Working on the headliner #2

Making progress on headliner... Glueing sound proofing to the roof first then putting in the card. It's taking a bit of fettling.

Working on the Headliner

Door cards cut, covered and fixed

Slats down

Took ages getting these right. Pop riveted on with oak plugs driven in. Small drop of water proof glue also added. Bead of silicon on underside and three coats of yacht varnish on top.

Inside Panels

Been working on the inside panels. Done the rear and put the seats in. Still got a bit of fettling to do on the kick panels. They needed soaking to get the right shape. Going to finish recovering then start on engine and electrics.

Bumper on. Door tops in. Aerial on. Quarter lights in. Door seals cut. Slats on bed next.

She was at the paint shop for 6 days but here she is back at base....

She's Off for a new coat of paint.....

Here she goes..... Off down the road to the paint shop. Towed by it's younger brother.

Progress?

Not posted for a while due to hols etc. However, I have been busy gathering the odd bit here and there. I've offered up a twin cylinder master cylinder for braking. Put new brake lines in to the front. Going to route the rear along the opposite chassis runner though as it will give a bit more length to a pipe I have lying around. So, brakes are near enough done. As I've put an old beetle rear end in for Independent Rear Suspension, I need to make fixings for the brake hoses at the back. I've also started thinking about door cards etc. Decided I'll have a go myself. Need to find a source for vinyl and some thin ply or card. The body is fully sprayed now and likely to go to the spray booth this coming weekend. Need a dry day though! Lots of small bits and pieces to do over the winter months like sort the electrics out and the gearbox and engine. Should be ready though for next easter with a fair wind? That'll be 5 years since I started on it!

Drilled load bed

I'm laying down oak bed slats I got made up to a sample from original slats. I'm going to rivet them down and then put an oak plug in the top. Not figured out how I'm going to varnish them yet though... off or on the cab as I'll need to insert the plugs and sand them down once I've riveted.
